These are the same straws you find in hospitals. We use them for a family member who has a hard time tilting her head to drink, and these straws require no movement at all, regardless of her position. They last long. We just put them in a bleach solution and clean out with straw cleaners to avoid mold build-up, and each straw lasts for weeks. So while they seem to be expensive (for straws), they are really very affordable and practical.
